Your curiosity and experience are welcome as we all expand our knowledge of the Guiding Principles:
This involves reducing or eliminating tillage, which can disrupt soil structure, damage beneficial microbes, and release stored carbon.
Keeping the soil covered with vegetation or organic matter protects it from erosion, helps retain moisture, and enriches the soil with nutrients.
Regenerative agriculture promotes a wide variety of plant and animal species, including cover crops, diverse crop rotations, and integrating livestock, which enhances soil health and ecosystem resilience.
Having plants with living roots in the soil year-round helps to build soil structure, improve water infiltration, and enhance nutrient cycling.

Just like we did two years ago, we are planting a Riparian Area!
Our water connects to the ocean ~
Chesapeake Bay Watershed Program - NYSDEC

Steps Taken to Prepare:
1.  Test Soil and Assess the Land around the Pond.
2.  Remove invasive species around and inside the pond.
3.  Manage and make any improvements.
4.  Plant Ground Cover.
5.  Order the plants!

This is an example of true community collaboration!
The infamous Tioga County Soil & Water Team has engaged with Owego Free Academy Teachers and Students!

NOTE:  We have plenty of planting opportunities!  If you'd like to bring your community, extension, 4-H, FFA, etc. group to the farm to experience and learn more about a particular project at the farm, contact us today and we'll work something out.

We want to be part of helping others learn about healthy, regenerative, sustainable farming practices. For a list of our current projects, see our Projects Page.
