Raising Chickens
From Chicks to Chickens and Roosters too!
Merging three sets of chickens is a bit tricky.
Three separate projects:
This means, soon we will 'process' roosters and merge hens. No illness, no losses... we need to keep security and nutrition high!
Merging three sets of chickens is a bit tricky.
Three separate projects:
- Current Rooster and his 9 laying hens, need a mobile coop. New design for a chicken tractor using a new dog kennel! They pay their way and we need to get ready for winter!
- 'Teenage Chickens' - the 'Sweet 16" we purchased in April have starting to show their Rooster Colors and one is now laying! From 16 minus 5 Roosters, hopefully we get 11 laying hens soon. They are thriving in their Mobile Chicken Coop!
- The 'Little Guys' (hopefully mostly girls)! A new group of 14 chicks that are gearing up for colder weather. They have their own mobile coop but growing out of it.
This means, soon we will 'process' roosters and merge hens. No illness, no losses... we need to keep security and nutrition high!

- The Brown's Ranch - We hold Dirt to Soil near and dear to our hearts as it tells our family’s story into regenerative agriculture and the struggles, triumphs, discoveries and failures along the way.
